観光客と一緒にマグロの競りを見学。ホテル出発は朝4時。Visiting the tuna auction together with tourists. We started from the hotel 4 am.

組合長から東京湾の資源枯渇の状況、漁業組合による資源保全の努力、水質汚染の状況や気候変動の影響などについて教えてもらう。We learned from the head of the fishing cooperative about Tokyo Bay - depletion of resources, resource conservation efforts by the cooperative, water pollution, and effects of climate change.

水産庁の大橋さんと対談。質疑も入れて盛り上がった。Discussing with Mr. Ohashi from the Fisheries Agency. Adding questions from the audience the debate got lively.

議員勉強会の後に集合写真。選挙中で少なめの参加。Group picture after study meeting for members of parliament. Because of elections not so many could attend.

環境省では、生態系の視点から見た海の生物に関する情報不足が深刻だとよく分かった。At the Ministry for the Environment we understood very well about the serious lack of information about living organisms in the sea, from an ecosystem perspective.

山田農林水産大臣は、口蹄疫問題で宮崎へ。代わりに水産庁は12人の専門家で対応してくれた。大勢でびっくり。Minister Yamada had to go to Miyazaki because of an outbreak of foot and mouth desease in cattle. Instead, 12 specialists from the Fishieries Agency kindly met with Isabella. So many we were surprised.

最後の日に市民向けシンポジウム。「消費者にもっと意識を」と皆でアピール。Symposium for the general public on the last day. All speakers called for more consumer awareness.

シンポジウム後、パネルのモデレーターを担当した共同通信の井田さんの取材を受ける。井田さんは「ウナギ 地球環境を語る魚」の著者で、イサベラさんは話があうので喜んだ。After the symposium,interview by journalist Mr. Ida, who also moderated the panel. He wrote a book about eel. Having much in common, Isabella enjoyed talking to him.
